Mousse de Maracujá (Passion Fruit Mousse) is a popular and refreshing Brazilian dessert. It's incredibly easy to make, requiring only a few ingredients, and it has a creamy texture with a tangy kick from the passion fruit. Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for you to try:

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (395g) sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 can (200ml) heavy cream (or whipping cream)

Creme de leite (Brazilian version of heavy cream - highly recommended for this recipe)

  • passion fruit juice (fresh or store-bought)(use the empty condensed milk can to measure)

  • 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin (optional, for firmer texture)

  • 3 tablespoons water (if using gelatin)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Gelatin (Optional) : If you want a firmer mousse, dissolve the gelatin in 3 tablespoons of warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to bloom, then gently heat until fully dissolved. If you're not using gelatin, you can skip this step.

  2. Blend the Ingredients: In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, and passion fruit juice. If you're using the dissolved gelatin, add that in too.

  3. Blend until smooth Blend everything for about 2-3 minutes until well mixed and creamy. Taste it, and if you want it sweeter or tangier, you can adjust by adding a bit more condensed milk or passion fruit pulp.

  4. Chill the Mousse: Pour the mixture into individual serving glasses or one large dish. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until the mousse is set.

  5. Serve and Garnish (Optional): Once set, garnish with extra passion fruit pulp or syrup (directions below), mint leaves, or a bit of grated white chocolate

Make a Passion fruit Syrup for your Mousse

To make a syrup for your passion fruit mousse, you just need to mix 1 cup of passion fruit pulp with 1/2 cup of sugar. Place it in a pan over low heat, stir well, and bring it to a boil. Stir a bit more until it reaches a syrup-like consistency. Then, just refrigerate it along with the mousse.

This syrup adds an extra layer of flavor and makes your mousse even more delicious!

    Notes:

    • Gelatin: If you prefer a softer, more jiggly mousse, you can skip the gelatin altogether. The mousse will still set, but it will be lighter and fluffier.

    • Passion Fruit Juice: If you can’t find fresh passion fruit, you can use store-bought juice. Just make sure it’s not overly sweetened.

Enjoy this vibrant, creamy, and tangy Brazilian dessert

it’s the perfect way to cool down on a warm day!
